The Fright Before Your Financial Night

Don’t let Halloween turn into a spending horror story. Read on if you dare...

Happy Halloween! 👻

You made it! Whether you’re gearing up for a night of trick-or-treating, a killer party, or a cozy movie marathon, the team at Luci Money Moves wishes you a safe, fun, and fantastically spooky night.

We’ve been getting into the spirit all month — from helping you plan for a retirement that’s more “treasure” than “trick” to making sure your holiday spending doesn’t turn into a January horror story.

To celebrate, we thought we’d share a little tale as a reminder that you’re not alone in your financial journey…

The Tale of Herbert’s Halloween Hustle 🏃

Herbert’s phone buzzed. A text from the group chat: “Party at 8! What’s your costume?!” His blood ran cold. In the whirlwind of his week, Halloween had crept up on him, silent and stealthy as Michael Myers. He was in full-blown, “Hocus Pocus”- level panic.

6:17 PM. The mission was simple: Thrift store. One bag of candy. Be home in an hour.
But as Herbert pushed his cart into the supermarket, he felt a chill. The automatic doors hissed shut behind him like a tomb.

6:43 PM. It started subtly. A king-sized bag of chocolates “on sale” fell into his cart. Then another. “For the trick-or-treaters,” a little conspicuous voice whispered. But the aisles were a trap. A horde of Shopping Cart Zombies—other last-minute shoppers—lurched past, their baskets overflowing, driving him deeper into the store. The festive music warped into a sinister soundtrack.

7:02 PM. The costume aisle. A cheap, plastic-packed “zombie” kit hung there, a $45 siren call for the unprepared. His resolve wavered. It would be so easy… But then he remembered the ancient texts—his group chat. A quick “COSTUME EMERGENCY” post sparked a “Friends” Costume Swap miracle. A buddy had a perfect pirate coat.
Crisis averted.

7:55 PM. The checkout line. The final boss. His cart was a monument to panic-buying: three giant candy bags (because they were “on sale”), a novelty pumpkin, and a “fun” fog machine he didn’t remember grabbing. The total flashed on the screen. His wallet screamed in agony and terror.

But Herbert was ready. He took a deep breath, invoked the sacred rule of the “Candy Quota,” and bravely put the fog machine and two candy bags in the “go-back” pile. He paid in cash, feeling the final, thrilling click of a plan executed under pressure.

He emerged from the store, not as a victim, but as a survivor. The cool night air never felt so good. His wallet was safe, his costume secured, and the only thing that would be haunted tonight was his doorstep by eager trick-or-treaters.

The Moral? Even the most thrilling Halloween panic can have a happy ending with a little help from friends and a solid, simple plan.

🧛 May Your Night Be Bloody Brilliant 🩸
